 Artist Biography John Nichols Haapanen (b. 1891) was born in Niantic, Connecticut on October 13, 1891, but the date of his death is unknown. His listed address for many years in the 1920’s and 1930’s was Boothbay Harbor, Maine.Haapanen studied with Ernest Lee Major (1864-1950), W. F. Brown, probably Walter Francis Brown (1853-1929), and Anson Kent Cross (1862-1944). He was a member of the Boston Art Club and the Copley Society, Boston, Massachusetts.
